Mr. Boniface Njenga

Boniface is the Deputy Director in the Africa Regional Office Health Team at the Gates Foundation. He leads a team focused on improving health service delivery in Africa by supporting and aligning with the strategies of various Program Strategy Teams. He manages the team responsible for delivering Routine Immunization Strengthening in polio-related activities across the continent and also coordinates integrated health system strengthening initiatives in the region. Before joining the foundation, Boniface spent 12 years at the Global Fund, where he managed several portfolios aimed at ensuring the efficient and timely use of Global Fund investments. During his time there, he led several key projects, including the re-alignment of the Africa and Middle East Department to enhance its operational effectiveness. He also supported the development and implementation of sustainability and transition strategies for health financing in Eswatini. He also led a project to integrate Global Fund malaria grant resources into a World Bank-administered Multi-Donor Trust Fund in South Sudan. Boniface holds a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Walden University and a Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree from Karnataka University in India.
