Dr. Magome Albanos Masike

Dr. Magome Masike currently serves as the Registrar of the Health Professions Council of South Africa, a position that underscores his commitment to advancing healthcare standards in the nation. Dr. Masike's educational background is extensive and diverse. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree, as well as a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA). His dedication to lifelong learning is evident as he is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health, which will further enhance his expertise in the field. Dr. Masike's leadership journey is marked by significant roles and achievements in the healthcare industry. He served as the Member of Executive Council (MEC) for Health in the North-West province from 2010 to 2018. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in the amalgamation of Tshepong and Klerksdorp public hospitals, a project that improved health service delivery in the region. Beyond healthcare, Dr. Masike has held various influential positions: • Executive Mayor of Matlosana Local Municipality (2000-2004): Dr. Masike successfully led the amalgamation of four municipalities—Klerksdorp, Stilfontein, Orkney, and Hartebeesfontein—into a cohesive entity. • Chairperson of the North-West Parks Board (2019-2022): He was instrumental in merging the North-West Parks Board with the North-West Tourism Board to form the North West Parks and Tourism Board. Dr. Masike's career also spans roles in both public and private sectors, including: • Business Development Director of Healthcare at Oracle South Africa: Reporting on Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). • Chairperson of the North-West Provincial Tender Board • Member of the Provincial Legislature • Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee for Finance in the Office of the Premier • President of the South African Medical Association (SAMA) in the North-West • Member of the University Council of the Medical University of Southern Africa (MEDUNSA): He also served as Chairperson of the Audit Committee.
