In addition, Dr. Ahmed advises AGFA HealthCare leadership and their teams in the development of solutions strategy, the clinical and medical aspects of technology innovation, and AI. Before his current role, Dr. Anjum worked at GE Healthcare for 12 years, implementing clinical and imaging IT solutions globally. 1. Tell us about your organisation and activities in the healthcare industry, with a focus on the Middle East region.
At AGFA HealthCare, we are transforming the delivery of care in the Middle East – supporting healthcare professionals across the region with secure, effective, and sustainable imaging data management. As a company, we are dedicated to our ME customers, and we have harnessed a value framework of Mission, Vision and Customer Delivery Principles into our routine operations.
2. In your opinion, what sets you apart from others in your area of expertise?
Across the MENA region, we’re witnessing a transformative moment in healthcare, with governments and private institutions investing heavily in digital health infrastructure. Enterprise Imaging is emerging as a critical enabler, allowing us to unify diagnostic data across radiology, cardiology, and beyond. Yet the real opportunity lies in integrating AI within these platforms to enhance decision-making and scale expertise. The challenge isn’t just technological; it’s organizational. To succeed, we must break down data silos, invest in workforce readiness, and align enterprise imaging strategies with long-term clinical and population health goals.
3. Share your thoughts on the current market trends that impact your focus area. What are the sectors poised for growth?
Healthcare will shift from reactive care to proactive, data-driven precision health. We’ll see the convergence of AI, genomics, imaging, and digital biomarkers driving earlier diagnosis, more personalized treatment plans, and continuous monitoring beyond the hospital walls. Enterprise platforms will become the backbone of this transformation, integrating clinical data across departments, geographies, and care settings. AI will not replace clinicians, but it will become a trusted partner in delivering faster, safer, and more equitable care. The healthcare systems that succeed will be those that can scale innovation responsibly while keeping patient outcomes and trust at the center.
4. Tell us about your latest achievements and accolades.
Amongst several 2025 KLAS Awards, including Most Improved Software Product, we can also celebrate our achievements on a local level. For 2024, AGFA HealthCare has been ranked as the Best in KLAS for its ground-breaking Enterprise Imaging for Radiology solutions in this region. This recognition is a testament to our pioneering role in introducing Enterprise Imaging to the market, solidifying our reputation as a leader with a consistently evolving and unified Enterprise Imaging Platform.
5. If any, please tell us about some of your notable investments and partnerships, as well as your plans for the year ahead.
We are delighted to discuss our forward plans at WHX Tech. In particular, we will be presenting our success stories in regards to our collaborative partnerships with the Government of Dubai, when we launched the conceptualization and testing of Dubai's first imaging AI use case. Building on that strategy of collaboration and innovation, that started 10 years ago, we will present case studies on clinical impact of AI at public hospitals in Dubai.
6. What will you be showcasing at WHX Tech? What opportunities are you looking forward to?
As our first participation at WHX Tech, we are looking forward to presenting our customers' successes stories, lessons learned and knowledge sharing.
7. What’s a recent moment at the company that made you genuinely proud?
A recent moment that truly made me proud was receiving the ‘Best in KLAS’ award for our Enterprise Imaging for Radiology platform in the MENA region for the second year running. This honor—based directly on healthcare providers’ feedback—reflects our commitment to delivering solutions that enhance clinical workflow, elevate diagnostic confidence, and ultimately improve patient care.
8. Favorite leadership quote?
Innovation is not a luxury. It is a necessity for every nation that seeks to achieve progress. And, as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of UAE and the Ruler of Dubai has said, “The race for excellence has no finish line.”
9. Finish this sentence: ‘If I weren’t a CEO/CMO, I’d probably be...’
If I weren’t the CMO, I’d still be working on the intersection and technology innovation and health care, and be mentoring young clinicians and university students on how to navigate medicine in a digital world. I’ve always believed that impact isn’t just about the role you hold—it’s about the problems you choose to solve.
10. Anything else you would like to add?
We are excited as we participate at this event, and presenting the impact of our technology innovations that is helping our customers deliver exceptional healthcare to their populations and communities they serve.
