1. Give us an overview of your organization. What are your key activities and strategic focus within the healthcare sector, particularly across the GCC and MENA region?

American Hospital Dubai, established in 1996, is the flagship brand of the Mohammad & Obaid AlMulla Group. The hospital serves patients across the region and includes several specialist centres for Cancer, Orthopedics, Heart, Diabetes Program, Bone Marrow Transplant, in addition to several other medical field hubs, including Prostate, Dental, Pediatrics, Physiotherapy & Rehab and Dermatology & Aesthetics.

American Hospital Dubai operates satellite clinics across Dubai, including Dubai Media City, Al Barsha, Al Khawaneej, Jumeirah, Mira, Dubai Hills, and Nad Al Sheba, to serve more communities. In addition, our newly launched American Hospital Dubai Science Park is a state-of-the-art multispecialty hospital that expands our footprint for healthcare excellence.

Our Strategic Focus
Our strategic focus is to deliver healthcare excellence through innovation, integrating AI, Big Data, and Robotics with human expertise, not only in the UAE but also across the GCC region and beyond.

We are aligned with the UAE's National AI Strategy 2031 and the UAE National Program for Artificial Intelligence. Our AI-led Research Centre, the first of its kind, established in collaboration with Cerner and launched in 2020, demonstrates this commitment.

Educational Initiatives
Education is a core element of our vision. We have launched several educational initiatives, including the American Hospital Academic Institute (AHAI) and, most recently, partnering with Intuitive, a global leader in robotic surgical training, to set up the region’s first Robotic Surgery Training Institute.

We are committed to nurturing healthcare professionals in the region into innovators and accelerators.

2. What emerging trends and critical challenges do you believe are most significantly shaping the industry's trajectory in this region?
The healthcare sector’s roadmap includes Innovation & Research, Data Analytics, MedTech Knowledge and Application, Preventive Care, Digital Transformation, and Biotechnology Initiatives. Scalable clinical practices are equally urgent for shaping a future-ready healthcare, and as a provider, if you are prepared for them, you are ahead of the curve; if not, it becomes a critical challenge to overcome.

Other critical challenges include: keeping pace with technological evolution by integrating Predictive Analytics, Data Forecasting, and Artificial Intelligence with Performance; pursuing healthcare collaborations with global innovators; implementing talent and capacity-building and retention strategies; and engineering sustainable healthcare. This is imperative, not optional.

Healthcare spending for public health advancements is also a priority. Governments must allocate a larger share of the budget to healthcare, including increasing the number of healthcare providers and skilled professionals, investing in infrastructure and facilities, and advancing technology and development to expand the region's healthcare footprint.

3. What is your strategic outlook for the healthcare sector over the next decade? How do you anticipate the industry will evolve?

Within the GCC sector, the healthcare market is projected to reach $159 billion by 2029. This growth will be driven largely by an increasing emphasis on integrating digital health platforms, AI-supported processes and clinical decision-making, preventive and personalized medicine, and capacity-building. Also critical will be specialized care, digital upskilling, infrastructure investments, capacity building, cost optimization and collaboration between global healthcare entities.

These trends converge to create connected care, the ultimate priority of healthcare. Connected care ensures seamless delivery from provider to patient by aligning providers, data, and patients and supporting local, regional, and global public health and safety goals.

4. What role does innovation play in your organization’s strategic framework? Please elaborate on your R&D initiatives and share insights into any significant projects currently in development or recently launched.

Innovation is central to American Hospital Dubai’s mission and vision of providing transformative healthcare. It is the reason we prioritised integrating AI and Big Data, advancing interoperability, establishing our robotic and other centres of excellence in critical disease fields, and digitising our entire workflow and processes to enhance our patient-centric performance.

For example, we were the first private healthcare provider in the UAE to introduce the 4th-generation Da Vinci robotic system, the ROSA® Knee System, the Versius® Robot Surgical System, the Mazor X Stealth™ Edition Robotic Guidance System, and many more, giving us a leading edge in robotic surgery across the region.

Our partnerships with global leaders in medical innovation, such as Siemens Healthineers, Prepaire Labs, and several other leading entities, are driven by our conviction that innovation is the key to progress.

5. How is your organization integrating sustainability principles into your healthcare operations? If any, what specific initiatives have you implemented to minimize environmental impact and advance sustainable healthcare practices?
We formally launched the American Hospital Sustainable Policy in 2023 to become the region's leading green healthcare model.

Among the several green initiatives, we planted an equivalent of 1 acre of forest cover by greening American Hospital Dubai’s premises and grew 261,359 trees from seedlings over 10 years. We conserve 2,176 gallons of water daily and 21,900 litres annually with touchless faucets and dual-flush WCs.

We have reduced our Energy Use Intensity (EUI) from 47.00 in 2020 to 34.00 in 2022, achieving 20,384,129 kWh (kilowatt-hours) savings.

Additionally, our eco-friendly measures include carpets made from partly recycled raw materials, phthalate-free vinyl flooring, reduced water use for cleaning, chairs made from 50% recycled ocean-bound plastic, polyester pads, and 100-cent urethane foam, and the use of green cleaning solutions across our premises.

We also implement farm-to-plate food practices in our hospital kitchen.

6. What innovations or solutions is your organization planning to present at WHX Dubai 2026? Are there any particular offerings you are especially excited to showcase and experience yourself?
