WHX Tech 2025: A new global gathering for digital healthcare innovationWHX Tech 2025: A new global gathering for digital healthcare innovation
Over 5,000 digital health professionals, 200 speakers, and 300 brands from more than 30 countries are convening at Dubai World Trade Centre until September 10 for the inaugural edition.

The inaugural edition of WHX Tech, a global gathering for digital healthcare innovation, opens its doors today for three days until September 10 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Positioned at the intersection of medicine and technology, WHX Tech aims to be more than just another industry conference. It is designed as a catalyst for reshaping patient care in an era where digital disruption is rewriting the rules of healthcare.
Healthcare systems worldwide are under unprecedented strain, right from workforce shortages and ageing populations to rising costs and post-pandemic recovery. Digital tools are increasingly being seen not just as optional add-ons but as core infrastructure. Yet, adoption is uneven. While AI-driven radiology and digital twins are becoming more mainstream in advanced economies, the World Health Organization has highlighted how equitable access and governance remain pressing concerns.
Against this backdrop, WHX Tech, a new flagship for digital health, reflects both regional momentum and a wider global need. Dr Tamara Sunbul, Digital Health Transformation & Innovation Advisor, notes: “WHX Tech isn’t just another conference, it is a catalyst. A space where ideas turn into action, and where the region’s brightest minds come together to shape a smarter, more connected, and more human future healthcare.”
A global stage for health technology
The event is bringing together more than 5,000 digital health professionals, 200 speakers, and 300 brands from more than 30 countries under one roof. The advisory board includes leading figures, namely, Dr David Rhew, Global Chief Medical Officer & VP of Healthcare, Microsoft, Dr Tamara Sunbul, Digital Health Transformation & Innovation Advisor, Dr James Mault, CEO, BioIntelliSense, Reenita Das, Senior Vice President, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Frost & Sullivan, Dr Sam Shah, Digital Health Advisor, Director of the Office of Healthcare Data Management at NEOM, and Dr Myriam Fernandez, Head of Health Innovation, Amazon Web Services.
“WHX is uniquely positioned to serve as a digital hub for the world because of its central geography, large regional investments in digital health and biotechnology and AI, and growing footprint of healthcare organisations located in the Middle East,” says Dr Rhew.
What to expect?
WHX Tech is built around three stages:
World X: A global showcase of digital health leaders and case studies.
Xcelerate: A platform for start-ups to pitch breakthrough ideas, culminating in a competition with a $50,000 prize for the most promising innovation.
Future X: A forward-looking stage for visionary insights, where technology meets long-term healthcare strategy.
Beyond the stages, WHX Tech will run curated networking through its Connections programme, bespoke matchmaking between innovators and buyers. An Investors programme will give venture capital and institutional investors direct access to the next wave of health technology start-ups.
Backed by leading institutions
The event is being held under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Dubai Health Authority, NABIDH, Dubai Health, Emirates Health Services and the Emirates Drug Establishment. It is delivered in partnership with HIMSS, a leading global adviser on health information and technology, and in collaboration with KLAS Research, known for benchmarking healthcare technology performance.
Already home to WHX Dubai (formerly Arab Health), Dubai is fast becoming a regional hub for biotech and medtech investment. WHX Tech now represents a new layer of ambition. It comes at a time when governments across the Middle East are increasing investments in digital health, artificial intelligence and data-driven systems to meet the twin pressures of rising demand and the need for resilient, patient-centred care. The global digital health market itself is forecast to expand at over 11.7% CAGR through the decade, reaching more than US$1 trillion by 2034, according to Precedence Research.
Looking ahead
The launch of WHX Tech underscores Dubai’s strategy to position itself not only as a convening hub but as a testbed for healthcare AI and medtech adoption. “The Middle East is one of the few regions where healthcare AI can scale fast and reshape the future of care,” says Christian Hein, Executive Advisor & Board Director, CH Health Tech Advisory.
With its mix of scale, policy backing, and ambition, WHX Tech is looking to emerge as the annual milestone where global digital health agendas are set.
